What’s this all about?

My name is Marie-Louise and I recently turned 60! To quote a sentence from an old song “at first I was afraid, I was petrified”!!! I then started to look at what was out there and realised there is very little for women turning 60. Yes of course there are some things, but they appeared to be American or you had to be rich (I am neither of these things!!). So I decided to write a blog – maybe no one will see it – which is fine (my diary so to speak) or even if it resonates with one person then that’s good too (also many thanks to Shez for coming up with the title). I was really worried at first about turning 60, but the more I thought about it – the luckier I felt. A lot of people (a lot of people I knew/know) have either not made 60 or won’t make 60 – so yeah I am lucky. I am blessed with good friends and a strong loving family and over a year ago I became a grandmother. I joined a gym about a year and a half ago as I felt uncomfortable in myself.  I moved to another gym in September last year and I love it. It is all females and the support and friendship from this group of women is fantastic. We have a personal instructor who runs our small classes and Jodie is supportive and encouraging. I have asked her to contribute to this blog to show that just because you hit 60 it is not the end – make it a new beginning!!
